Whitehorse

Whitehorse, capital of the Yukon, is a fun place to start your explorations of the territory. The name "whitehorse" comes from frothy rapids on the Yukon River that looked like a horses' manes. Prospectors to the Klondike had to paddle through these perilous rapids on their voyage down the river. Kids won't see the rapids today – a lake now covers the rough water through Miles Canyon.
