Anchorage - City Center

Alaska Zoo (O'Malley Rd.) – The zoo is the best spot to see all the wonderful wildlife native to Alaska – polar bears, moose, wolverine, red and arctic foxes, gray wolves, river otters, harbor seals, golden and bald eagles, ravens, Sitka black tailed deer, caribou, black and brown bears, Dall sheep and trumpeter swans. In summer there's a shuttle from the center of Anchorage out to the zoo.
H2Oasis Indoor Waterpark – Need an afternoon to relax in a huge indoor water park? This waterpark has wave pools, water slides, water coaster, lazy river, and children's lagoon with slides into shallow water.  Towels, lockers, changing rooms and showers, snack bar on site.

Alaska Native Heritage Center – Visit five different authentic Native village sites – Tlingit/Haida/Tsimhan/Eyak, Aleut &Alutiiq, Inupiac & St. Lawrence Island Yupik, Yup'ik & Cup-ik, and Athabascan, each with artifacts used in traditional daily life. The museum also has demonstrations by Alaska Native artists, ceremonies, drumming, dance, and tribal gatherings.

Anchorage Museum – A modern, state of the art museum, kids can spend hours exploring the galleries (and is a good choice for a rainy day). The Discovery Center has hands-on science exhibits about auroras, earthquakes and volcanoes, glaciers, biodiversity, aurora borealis, and activities for little kids. Learn about the history and culture of Native Alaskan peoples in the Living our Cultures gallery, filled with exquisite masks, button blankets, Chilkat robes, and dioramas of traditional life. Museum is closed on Monday.
