Tip: Accessing the web from your smartphone is very convenient, but when you go abroad (including Canada), there may be international data roaming charges. You don't want any surprises on your phone bill when you get back home. Before you go on your trip, check with your phone service provider about international data usage plans, or only use Wi-Fi to access the web with your smartphone. |

To sign up for an international data usage plan, for example AT&T for the iPhone has a reasonable fixed rate per month. Activate this additional feature before you go on your trip, cancel when you get back. |
