    Hood Canal
Potlatch State Park
Potlatch State Park – A lovely state park situated on Hood Canal, which isn’t a canal at all, but a sparkling blue fjord. Camp or stop for lunch at Potlatch – there are picnic tables under the trees, grassy areas and sandy beaches (covered with big oyster shells), and warm shallow water for wading.
Hunter Farms (Highway 106, off the 101, toward Union) – In summer, stop at the farm for local Washington fruits (such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries) and the locally made Olympic Mountains Ice Cream. In October, there’s a large pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkin, tractor rides and a hay maze.
Go boating – At Hood Canal Marina (in Union) rent kayaks, pedal boats or electric boats, and go boating out on the Hood Canal. In Allyn, there's kayaking on Case Inlet (you might see sea otters in the water). Even if you've never kayaked before, it's easy to get the hang of it. A double kayak is perfect for an adult and one child (life jackets are available in kid's sizes).
Go swimming – Twanoh State Park has the warmest swimming beaches, and lots of shallow waters for kids to splash and play in summer.
