Art Gallery (Robson Square) – The city's premier art museum,
it also has something really special for kids. On the third Sunday of each
month it transforms itself into a family magnet. Hands-on activities, drop-in
art making studios, interpretive performances, guided tours, and art demonstrations. |

Square Waterfalls – Robson Square is a three block area with multi-layered
waterfalls, pools and fountains, landscaped with lovely green gardens in
the heart of the city. Dabble little fingers in the water, and trace the
water as it flows from the upper levels to the lower pool. Bring a picnic. |

Vancouver Public Library – Yup, the library. It's one of those places that kids like being in – just because of the architecture. It has what you'd expect from a big city library (great collection, reading rooms, story-telling hour) and a killer curved courtyard that is home to cafes, shops, and public displays. Check the calendar for lectures by authors, illustrators, and events. If nothing else, plan to walk through the entranceway and take pictures. | ||

Vancouver Aquatic Center (Beach Ave., near the Burrard Bridge) – On a gray or rainy day, head for this large indoor swimming pool, plus sauna and whirlpool. Public swims morning and early afternoon-evenings daily. |

Robson Street is chock-a-block with places to get Vancouver souvenirs, including Canadian moose stuffed animals, totem poles, moccasins, Royal Canadian Mounted Police toys or First Nation arts and crafts. Hudson's Bay Company might look like just another department store, but it's truly a Canadian company, in business since 1670. Stop off in the bedding department to see the Hudson's Bay blankets in striped colors, a centuries old tradition. |
